The BEST Community Building and Nursery at Samuel Whitbread Community College in Clifton was named Best Commercial Project (less than £1 million) for the Central Region at the LABC Building Excellence Regional Awards in July 2011.

 The site now qualifies as a finalist in the national awards in the Best Small Commercial Building category alongside the other nine regional champions. The overall national winner will be announced in November.

 LABC is a member organisation representing local authority building control in England and Wales. It promotes the design and construction of safe, accessible, environmentally efficient buildings.

 Martin Foxall, director of Hanson Leddington Partnership, project architects announced:

“We are extremely pleased that the project is receiving national recognition and acclaim.”
The construction contractors were Low C Construction Ltd. Its founder and chief executive, Richard Griffin, commented:

“The BEST House project has grabbed a lot of attention due to its exemplar energy performance."

Low C has also entered the BEST House project in the edie Awards for Environmental Excellence to be held in November. edie recognise projects and products that deliver real progress and highlight them as examples to inspire others.
